Arent Liberals Anti Establishment so why are they upset by the Republican attack on the Status Quo?

I thought the Left was all about some Nobel Progress and march towards some Utopia , yet now they stand and shake their collective fist at any progress towards fiscal responsibility and freedom for the tax payer
