Verizon Wireless-Blackberry/Smart phone??

OK, I really want to get a Blackberry, smart phone, PDA, trio..Whatever...Anyway, I am wondering if I can get one of these phones without paying for the monthly Internet service...It seems crazy to pay $50 a month extra just for Internet, so can I just get the phone without the data package and just use it as a phone?...Does anyone know? (again, this is through verizon wireless)
