Does this sound like asthma?
I am not a doc, but i have had describe matches my symptom exactlyasthma my entire life, i am 50 years old. what you describe matches my symptoms exactly. I can tell you how to tell if it is asthma. Get an asthma inhaler from the drug store or supermarket ( the over the counter ones are cheapest at wal mart ). kepp it handy and the next time you have a problem use the inhaler, if there is any improvement at all then it is asthma. the symptoms fixed by inhalers are only present during asthma problems the inhaler wont help if it is anything else. MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, i see so many people use thier inhalers the way actors do on tv and in the moovies. the proper way is your lips should seal arond the inhaler you don't point it at your open mouth you place your lips around it like you're sucking through a straw. breath out as much air as you can squeeze out the spray into your mouth and inhail as much as you can...with your lips sealed around the inhaler. then hold your breath as long as you can, then breath normal.
