I bot a VIA USB Enhanced Host controller, when i plug my ipod 2 sys thru USB2, it says conncet thru USB2 ports?

i recently purchased a VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller, when ever i plug in my IPOD or PENDRIVE, it still tells me "please connect thru USB 2 ports" eventhough i am connecting thru the same. I though USB2 would increase the transfer speed, but the speed is same as my old USB1.1 ports. Could anyone please gimme some ideas on the same.!!!!
