Why? My JVC television turns of the Stark socket so will not record when its of is there any way i can sort?

Not sure what a STARK is but the important thing is that if you are using a Converter Box, is to have this device powered on and set to the proper channel that you would like to record. The TV does not have to be powered on for the recording to take place.
