Liver dialysis? please please help.?

ok so my friend is receiving liver dialysis am i being thick by not knowing what it is? can some please tell me more info about it. i looked online but im not sure what it all really means...... yeah im a bit thick lol but im really worried about him. any info would be great but a proper detailed explanation that ill understand would be fab! thanks for reading.
